Résumé : This study is part of broader research that has contributed to identifying the factors explaining the growing appeal of European clubs for African footballers in the early 1980s. Our aim was to complement that work by focusing on the experiences of that first generation of African footballers through the testimonies of players who came to Europe in the hope of forging a professional career.
